Golden West or, formally, Golden West Aviation Association, Inc. is a non-profit organization. We are specifically made up of volunteers and we operate out of California, operating for the benefit of the flying public.
We are built out of a desire to educate people about aviation safety and best practices. By doing this, we inform the public about proper airplane practices and how to keep safe in the air. We do this through holding a Regional Fly-in, an annual event where we welcome families and visitors to aerial demonstrations. These events can be expected during our annual Fly-in:
- An Airplane Exhibit. We play host to lots of aircraft. Whether you’re a war buff, a do-it-yourself enthusiast, a history buff, an adventurer, or just a plain spectator, the planes you’re searching for are hosted during the event. The Fly-in is also a chance for you to see your favorite planes up close and personal; some of them might even take you on a ride!
- An Experience for the Kids. When you’ve got your tykes with you on this trip, to keep them busy, we have workshops. They can learn more about airplanes; they can learn about different flight mechanics, plane projects, and may even go up in the air in one of these planes.
- A Treat for the Family. See your favorite planes in action! During weekends of the event, we play host to airshows where only the best and brightest of these planes take to the air.
Whatever your favorite plane is, there’s a chance you’ll see it during the Golden West Fly-in. Formerly held at the Castle Air Force Base in Merced, it has since moved to the Yuba County Airport in Marysville, CA.
Fully volunteer-driven and aiming at excellence, we are ready to accept any and all plane enthusiasts.
