February 22, 2004 -
Golden West Aviation Association Director Richard Cabrihna died
after a brief illness exacerbated an existing heart condition on 20
December 2003.
Richard accomplished many things, in his full life of sixty-nine
years; as a family man, a professional engineer in both aviation and
civil fields, and an energetic and able volunteer for several
organizations. Most familiar of his accomplishments to this
newsletter's audience undoubtedly were his beautiful Free Spirit
series of airplanes, and his work as a Golden West Director.
Golden West remembers and thanks Richard for his important
contributions to our association and the aviation community as a
whole. Richard we enjoyed knowing and working with you. We offer his
family our most sincere condolences. Richard will be missed and
remembered, and his spirit and passion for aviation will continue to
influence many in our aviation community. |

Famous aircraft designer and good friend Richard Cabrihna died on
the 20th of December 2003 of heart failure at his home in
Sacramento, CA. He was 69 years old when he died. Richard and I have
always had a lot of fun experimenting with aircraft and meeting with
other aviation friends. Besides being very active in the various
Chapters of the Experimental Aircraft Association, he was best known
for the design, building and flying of his Free Spirit which was a
two place sport aircraft made out of fiberglass.
Richard will be dearly missed by all who knew him including me and
his family. But we will always remember him for his humor and wit
and the fun experiences we had together. God bless you Richard. Your
free spirit is flying again. |
