ARRIVAL &
DEPARTURE PROCEDURES Note: THIS IS NOT AN OFFICIAL NOTICE TO AIRMEN. The following information has been supplied by the Federal Aviation Administration as a service to pilots flying to the Golden West Experimental Aircraft Association Fly-In June 20-22, 2003. While every effort has been made to provide correct information, pilots should rely on official NOTAMS. Special
Air Traffic Management In anticipation of the large number of aircraft operating to and from Marysville Yuba County Airport during the Golden West EAA Fly-In, the following procedures will be used to enhance safety and minimize air traffic delays. RUNWAY CLOSURES Runway 23/5 will be closed from 6:00 AM local on June 19, 2003 until 7:00 PM on June 22, 2003 except for aircraft taxiing and parking. AIRPORT DELAYS Due to aircraft demonstrations and fly-by activities associated with this event, other aircraft operations may be delayed. Pilots should plan accordingly, SACRAMENTO AREA FREQUENCIES

Yuba County Airport ASOS
118.475 Tower operating hours Thursday 12:00 PM – 6:00 PM, Friday-Sunday 7:00 AM -6:00 PM VFR ARRIVALS TO MARYSVILLE YUBA COUNTY AIRPORT These procedures will only be used during daylight hours. All aircraft are expected to use the Golden West Fly-In arrival procedures. Aircraft not complying with these procedures can expect increased delays. NOTE: Sacramento International (SMF) and Beale AFB (BAB) Class C airspace is in effect. Remain clear of Class C airspace unless two-way radio communication has been established with Sacramento Approach Control When you are 20 to 30 miles from Marysville Yuba County Airport, listen to the ASOS 118.475. Contact Sacramento Approach on the appropriate frequency. Sacramento Approach will issue instructions and traffic advisories on a workload-permitting basis. GOLDEN WEST FLY-IN ARRIVAL PROCEDURE DO NOT CALL THE TOWER FOR LANDING INSTRUCTIONS WHEN THIS PROCEDURE IS IN EFFECT. When Runway 14 is in use, proceed to the MYV VOR 175 radial, 5NM fix (Lat. 39:01:00, Long. 121:35:35) then fly direct to MYV VOR. This course approximates the 45 degree entry to right traffic RW 14. Report turning right downwind. When Runway 32 is in use, proceed to the MYV VOR 275 radial, 5 NM fix (Lat. 39:07:42, Long. 121:40:23) then fly direct to MYV VOR. This course approximates the 45 degree entry to left traffic RW 32. Report turning left downwind. Tower may issue instructions and clearances using either your call sign or your aircraft type and color. Unless otherwise instructed plan landing so as to exit the runway as soon as possible on a hard surface. If traffic is too close behind, you may be instructed to land long. All landing traffic must remain alert for possible radio or light signal go-around from the tower. IMPORTANT: REMAIN IN TRAIL, NOSE TO TAIL. NO SIDE BY SIDE SEPARATION. LEAVE LIGHTS ON WITHIN 30 MILES OF MARYSVILLE. MONITOR FUEL STATUS. IF CRITICAL ADVISE ATC IMMEDIATELY. VFR HOLDING AT Sutter Butte (MYV 284 radial, 13 NM) for RW 32 Grime Intersection (MYV 217 radial, 9 NM) for RW 14 AFTER TOUCHDOWN All aircraft should continue moving until well clear of the runway, as there will be aircraft clearing behind you. When clear of the runway, monitor ground frequency 121.05. When clear of active taxiways (under control of EAA ground marshals) monitor Golden West Parking Advisory frequency 127.9. HELPFUL HINTS Do Not make unnecessary radio transmissions. Do Not Stop On Runways; expeditious clearing of the runway is essential. Observe and Comply with all orange vested ground marshal instructions. Do Not Stand On, Near or Walk Across Runways or Taxiways. REDUCED ARRIVAL AND DEPARTURE RUNWAY SEPARATION STANDARDS A waiver has been issued that reduces arrival and departure separation standards for category 1 and 2 aircraft (primarily single and light twin engine aircraft). The allowed separation may be as little as 1,500 feet for your type of aircraft. It is important for safety that you not stop on the runway unless instructed to do so by the tower. NO RADIO (NORDO) AIRCRAFT All pilots of non-radio equipped aircraft (except ultralight aircraft) flying into Marysville Yuba County Airport shall follow the Marysville Arrival Procedure. When approaching Marysville Airport, be alert for traffic. Position yourself to follow an aircraft inbound to the airport. When you reach mid-field downwind begin rocking your wings for approximately 10 seconds. Watch the control tower for a light signal. If a red light is observed from the tower, non-radio aircraft should depart the pattern by over flying the airport and proceeding to the appropriate 5 mile 45 degree entry point. Be extremely alert for numerous aircraft operating in the vicinity of the airport. DEPARTURE PROCEDURES All aircraft able to do so should monitor the Marysville ASOS prior to engine start to obtain runway, taxi, and possible departure delay information. Aircraft requesting VFR traffic advisories from Sacramento Approach, or for aircraft north, or northeast bound requesting Class C transition, and all IFR departures, contact Marysville Ground prior to taxiing. Give Ground Control aircraft identification, type aircraft, and destination. Radio equipped aircraft should monitor Golden West Aircraft Parking on 127.9 and follow the orange vested marshal's directions until approaching a taxiway entry spot. When number one at taxiway entry spot call Marysville Ground on 121.05 with your aircraft identification, the location at which you are holding, and advise you have received the ASOS weather. Marysville Ground will issue taxi instructions. Listen closely for, and read back all "hold short" instructions. When you are approaching number one for departure change to the Marysville Tower frequency 126.4, advise them when you are number one, state the runway number you are holding short of, and if you are IFR. Intersection departures should advise tower which intersection they are holding at. (N12345 ready runway one four, taxiway alpha) Departures planning an on-course heading east of Marysville airport remain southwest of Highway 65 and not turn on course until leaving 2,500 feet and in contact with Sacramento Approach. (Beale Class C Airspace) You may be assigned an initial departure heading. Pilots are expected to remain on the assigned heading until ATC instructions to resume own navigation are received. IFR TRAFFIC Due to the expected increase in the volume of traffic generated by the Golden West Fly-In, some delays may be encountered for IFR aircraft arriving and departing Marysville Yuba County Airport. Be familiar with the Golden West Fly-In VFR arrival and departure procedures. IFR ARRIVAL PROCEDURES Be prepared to discontinue your approach and enter a VFR traffic pattern for landing sequence. When the ceiling and visibility at Marysville Yuba County Airport is at or above 3,000 feet and 5 miles, expect to be vectored to the vicinity of the 5NM, 45 degree entry point for a visual approach following the Marysville Arrival Procedure. Be extremely alert for a high volume of traffic with a wide variance of performance characteristics operating in the vicinity of Marysville. IFR DEPARTURES File your IFR Flight Plan at least one hour before departure. IFR flight plans, which have not been used within 90 minutes of the proposed departure time, will be dropped from the system. Contact Marysville Ground on 121.05. Do not taxi until you have received your IFR clearance. When you have completed your run-up and are ready for departure, advise Ground Control that you are ready for IFR release. Once your IFR release has been obtained Ground control will advise you to contact Marysville Tower. Do not block access to the runway until Ground Control advises you to contact the tower. ULTRALIGHT OPERATIONS Ultralight aircraft will be operating on a temporary airstrip in the vicinity of the approach end of the closed Runway 23. Ultralights shall remain clear of the normal traffic patterns to RW 14 & 32 FLIGHT SERVICE STATION INFORMATION Complete pilot briefing and flight-planning services will be provided 24 hours daily through the Rancho Murietta Automated Flight Service Station. These services are available by calling Rancho Murietta AFSS at 1 -800-992-7433 (1-800-WX-BRIEF). A temporary non-automated Flight Service Station will be located at Marysville Yuba County Airport during the fly-in. The FSS can be located by following the signs directing you to its location. Pilot briefing and flight plan service will be available June 20 to June 22, from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM local. Due to the large volume of services provided during the Fly-In and limited staffing, it is imperative that you contact the Right Service Station as far in advance as possible to obtain your briefing and file flight plans. INBOUND VFR FLIGHT PLANS TO MARYSVILLE YUBA COUNTY AIRPORT Pilots are requested to add an additional 30 minutes to their ETE to allow for unexpected delays. Pilots are also encouraged to ensure the color of their aircraft is included in the remarks section of their VFR flight plans. Due to the large number of aircraft in the area of Sacramento Marysville Yuba County Airport, it may be a good idea to close your VFR flight plan while approaching the airport as up to 30 minute parking delays may be encountered. To close flight plans, arrivals can use FSS frequency 122.6. Please advise Rancho Radio which frequency you are listening to and provide your complete call sign. Due to frequency congestion, air files and full-route weather briefings are discouraged between 6:00 AM and 7:00 PM local on Rancho Murietta AFSS frequencies June 20-22, 2003. REMEMBER TO CLOSE YOUR FLIGHT PLAN SPECIAL REQUESTS, QUESTIONS, AND COMMENTS If you have any requests, questions or comments, please contact Steve Dennis at Sacramento TRACON, phone 916-366-4048, or e-mail steve.dennis@faa |
